"These AKGs are quite something. Bluetooth headphones that sound just as good as their wired counterparts." What Hi-Fi Sound & Vision Award Winner 2016.
Wireless freedom with Bluetooth Wireless meets award-winning design with the AKG Y50BT headphones. Simply pair them up with your Bluetooth compatible smartphone, tablet, laptop, PC or Mac and you're ready to listen - cable free. The Y50BT uses rechargeable batteries that can provide up to 20 hours of music playback. A USB cable is provided for recharging and, with a standard 3.5mm cable supplied, the music can continue, even when you've exhausted the batteries.
AKG signature sound quality The AKG Y50BTs boast class-leading sound quality. Larger than the Y40 models, the Y50s are ideal for use both on the move and at home. The larger size gives a deep, dynamic bass response that still has the typical AKG precison and refinement. The closed-back design keeps both outside noise blocked and also prevents leakage from the headphones to the outside world - making them a more commuter friendly pair of headphones.
Simple, effortless control and with mic built-in With a clear and easy to locate control panel on the side of one earpiece, it's easy to control the Y50BT. Adjust the volume, play/pause, skip tracks and answer/drop calls all from the earpiece control pad (note, when running in passive/cabled mode these functions no longer operate). With a built-in microphone on one of the earpieces, it's also easy to make and receive hands-free calls.
AKG quality and comfort The unique 3D-axis mechanism doesn't just make these headphones easy to fold and carry, it also gives a perfect fit against your ears. The soft, padded, headband and ear pieces simply add to the long term comfort of these headphones. Although light and comfortable, the Y50BTs are durable, too. The folding design helps when storing the headphones - as does the lack of cable! A soft travel pouch is also included.
Top quality sound with wireless freedom - AKG does it better than anyone in its class.
Are the headphones wireless? Optional requires a Bluetooth transmitter.
Do the headphones feature active noise cancelling technology to block outside noise?
Headphone sensitivity is measured in dB. The lower the figure, the more powerful the driving amplifier needs to be. Headphones for use on portables need to be of higher sensitivity than home hi-fi ones.
Impedance is measured in ohms and should be matched carefully to the driving amplifier for the best sound quality and reliability.
Frequency response is measured in Hz and gives an indication of how low and how high the headphones will go.
20 - 20,000
Length of cable supplied in metres.
Weight of headphones in grammes, without packaging.
The size and type of plug fitted and whether an adaptor is supplied. 3.5mm is standard on most portable devices whilst home hi-fi usually accepts 6.35mm (quarter inch) size plugs.
Open back headphones offer the most spacious sound but can leak sound, disturbing others. They also block less outside noise than closed back headphones
Closed back headphones block out more background noise than open back ones. They also leak less sound

Compact quality headphonesHaving used your standard in ear headphones for many years I always had the same problem of limited life with them, inevitably they would stop working through a combination of quality (thin cables) and entanglement (inevitable). So decided to try bluetooth with the option of cable should I need it. I tried several models of bluetooth and compared portability, construction quality, charge and on ear use time and sound and have found a good compromise. Good build quality, 2 year guarantee, great sound and construction with excellent on ear time, I have found in excess of 20hrs sporadic use between charges. Overall excellent product and service from Richer Sounds.

Well Worth the MoneyFantastic headphones. Tend to use them wired usually but the Bluetooth functionality is fantastic. In terms of how the headphones sound, they are incredibly detailed. You really notice every aspect of the music that you're listening to. The low end response is great for headphones of this size and the high frequencies are never shrill or cutting. The frequency response is very well balanced throughout.
These headphones came very highly recommended and after having them for a week, I hear why.

Great BT headphonesThese are great headphones. The only reason I couldn't give a 5 is because when you pack them away in the handy pouch the power button is located in a position which sometimes gets knocked turning it back on again in the bag. Everything else is spot on.

Good quality headphonesI spent some time looking at, and listening to, wireless headphones before finally deciding on these. For me, they represent a good compromise between quality and cost. They appear to be well built and the sound is excellent for wireless, although they do suffer from that bluetooth hiss at low volumes. Earpieces are comfortable, although I find the headband slightly uncomfortable for extended wear (this is probably more to do with my lack of hair rather than any fundamental problem with the headphones though).

Unbelievable wireless sound with any deviceI originally went for the Lindy BNX60 as they had active noise cancellation and had received lots of praise on several audiophile sites. I tested them thoroughly at my nearest RS branch (York, a pleasure to be there every single time) but I also tested AKG Y45BT and these Y50BT. The Y50BT were amazing straight off, but decided to go for the Lindy's as they sounded OK after pumping the bass up using an equaliser (I know, I know...) but appeared to be far more comfortable than the AKG's. I was wrong. Very wrong.
After a few days, the Lindy's ('over ear' design) started hurting my left ear. Also, I had noticed that the noise cancellation wasn't as powerful as a wired mid-range Audio Technica QuietPoint pair I had around... so contacted the York branch and was told to bring the headphones & swap them for the Y50BT. Gosh, am I grateful for that.
It's been over a week and I haven't even tried them with the supplied 3.5mm cable on. Why? Because they sound AMAZING on Bluetooth.

Comfortable bluetooth headphonesReceived these as a gift and really liking them so far. Very comfortable to wear for on ear headphones and the battery life is excellent.
If I had to make some very minor criticisms I would say that for those with a slightly smaller head they might feel a little bit loose/unstable on your head, otherwise very comfortable. A mate with a really big head tried them and found them extremely comfortable. Also, when they are folded it is occasionally possible for the on switch to be activated by accident.

Good value.Very pleased with the sound quality over bluetooth. I play mostly flac files from a Samsung S5 and the quality is excellent. To be honest mp3s sound pretty much the to me. Over ear fit cuts out quite a bit of ambient noise.
