"Denon has done it again - the D-M40DAB is a seriously impressive micro system for the money."What Hi-Fi Sound & Vision Award Winner 2016

The small system that's big on sound quality
It might be small but the Denon DM40 DAB still puts sound quality first. "Simple & Straight" circuit design minimizes distortion from the input selector, electronic volume control and power amp for sound purity and very low levels of distortion. Working alongside this, Triple Noise Reduction Design (TNRD) works to preserve the signal quality for the most accurate, life-like sound. Make no mistake, the Denon D-M40DAB is still one of the best-sounding systems in its class.

USB to get the most from your Apple iPhone or iPod
The front-mounted USB socket is ideal for connecting up your Apple iPod or iPhone and playing back music. Not only is this fully compatible for playback, it also charges your iPod or iPhone, even when in standby - making a charging dock unnecessary.

Flexible connectivity; now includes two digital inputs
Although a brilliant system in its own right, the DM40DAB reaches out to your other sources, too. If you've got a TV, games console or TV set-top box, you can now plug them in using the two standard optical inputs. An analogue AUX input is also included for older sources.

Pump up the bass with an optional subwoofer
By fitting a subwoofer output, Denon gives you a wider choice of speaker options. Instead of medium-sized or floorstanding speakers you can use an active subwoofer with small satellite speakers - the choice is now yours.

DAB radio
The Denon DM40 DAB comes with an impressive sounding tuner radio that's comprehensively equipped. Featuring DAB+, DAB and FM (RDS), the tuner has many radio eventualities covered both for the present and, because of DAB+, for the future, too.

The perfect balance of sound and convenience, the Denon DM40 DAB still sets the standard.

DENON DM40 DAB is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 146.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best little budget system you can buy I've had several of these little denons over the years and they just get better and better. For the price, this little unit exudes quality, with its brushed aluminium facia, minimalist layout and tasteful, understated grahics. Brash it ain't - this is a system for sophisticated urbanites, who are space challenged, but want a proper hifi for their little piece of real estate. It feels substantial, as though it's been fashioned from a solid block of aluminium. This feeling of quality isn't only superficial - Denon have used a smattering of high quality components inside the box too. The sound quality is better than one could ever expect, for a one box system at this budget end of the market - a well focused soundstage, tightly controlled bass, a decent midrange and good levels of detail. Add iPod connectivity, an analogue input for your Chromecast and the miniscule footprint of a shoe box, all for £149 - Beat that!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from denon dm40 dab I am sad to say that the cd sound quality is poor. For some reason the re-production seems unbalanced, I have hundreds of cds and have just purchased brand new sealed cds from hmv but, the fault is just the same! I bought the device just a few months ago but, because of the sound I don't use it much.I bought this to replace a sony unit similar in appearance and so far much superior than the denon. Very disappointed to be so negative about this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Denon M40DAB - simple sound machine! Bought this so as I can start playing my old vinyls again using a deck and speakers I already had. The Denon produces a fantastic sound and was simple to set up - even the scratches sound better!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product with a couple of missing features. Bought to replace a 40 year old Sony tuner-amplifier and allow connection to future devices with optical outputs when elderly LG 1st generation flat-screen TV and DVD etc are upgraded. The DAB/FM and CD , connected to existing speakers reveal features in familiar music never noticed before, and the RCA/phono socket allows easy connection of older equipment. However, the display does not appear to show the artist/title information usually encoded on music CD's or some of the technical details of DAB services that even the most basic digital radio receivers reveal, unless I have missed something in the computer-accessed manual. There is also no front-mounted 3.5mm input jack socket or bluetooth facility so not ideal for use with many mobiles or tablets. Yet to try the USB input or use a sub woofer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from muffled sound After reading so many good reviews bought the player. Sound is poor, no highs. They really got muffled the more I increased them. Bass was unnatural and I kept lowering it all the time. Something in the sound was missing making me wanting to put it louder. Returned to Richer Sounds for full refund as it was an open box. My advice is to try and find open box and take it home to test.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DENON = RUBBISH! Before I write any more I wish to point out that I have no complaint against Richer Sounds. My first Denon product was bought on line some years ago. It is a DVD Surround Receiver ADV-M51. It never worked properly. I could put a DVD to play, which it would for 25 minutes, then it was pause for 5 seconds, play again for 10 minutes, pause again for 5 seconds then play again. The rest of the film was suffered in the same way. ly. My pal, Bobby, assured me that it was a "one off" event and that DENON has a good name. We shall see. So on his recommendation I bought another DENON product in an "open box" sale. So far, all O.K. So I bought a DENON DM40DAB mini Hi-Fi with a 6 year "Supercare" warranty for £163.53. No problem so far. Not until Bobby came to wire it up. Eventually all he could get out of it was "READING" when the CD was inserted. It took a long time to eject the CD as well. Back it went to Richer Sounds who confirmed the event and offered me an option. Avoid "DENON" .
