At first glance, the Monitor Audio looks like a standard, albeit stylish, portable clock radio. Yet there's so much more to it than that. Starting with the simple stuff, the Airstream comes with an RDS FM tuner. This frequency has four presets and is ideal for listening to a wide range of local and national stations. If you have a music server/NAS drive on your network, the Airstream will find it and let you easily stream music from it, thanks to Universal Plug 'n' Play. Finally, there's also a 3.5mm Auxiliary input socket, letting you plug in any portable device.

Great playback flexibility is just half the story with the Airstream, though. As you'd expect from this leading speaker brand, the sound quality is comfortably above average. The speaker is of an in-house design and is powered by a hi-fi grade, 7 watt Class A-B amplifier, rather than a basic digital amp. Six preset modes let you tweak the sonic settings so you can optimise the sound to your personal taste.
