Hi and welcome to Richer Sounds Glasgow!
The Glasgow store is conveniently located on the corner of Jamaica Street and Howard Street, opposite the Juries hotel, next to a car park and a mere 500 yards away from Central Train Station. OK, so you all know McDonalds on Argyll Street? From there, head down to the Clyde, where you cannot help but notice the warm glow on the left hand side. This is from our vast range of criminally cheap plasma and LCD TVs! Joking apart, we’re the most fun shop in the whole of Glasgow! Even if you don’t like TV or hi-fi (are you mad?!) you might want to pop down, grab a coffee and tell us a few jokes (we only boo really bad ones). Here’s the team line-up - if you can’t identify your soulmate here from the descriptions below, they WILL be wearing a badge!
Enter the world of Neil Airey: like a rolling stone with admin skills and x-ray specs, this bounder & rover excels at eating tangerines and other things of fruitful origin. With an IQ exactly 10% higher than everybody else's due to the sporting of his highbrow spectacles, Neil will make sure that he can answer your questions correctly before actually attempting to. Smart indeed! Where others fail, he will succeed; where others crumble, he will disintegrate completely and then reform slightly over to the left and 2 inches taller. Amazing! And he may also know something about hi-fi as he's worked at our Glasgow store forever, but then you'd have to ask him about that yourself!
Next in our line-up of the usual suspects is Scott. Scott is very knowledgeable about all things hi-fi and can be a great help to you when making those choice purchases. He'll bamboozle you with his words but can explain in layman's terms just how that piece of equipment works (if you're interested). Scott likes his beats and loves going crazy legs to drum & bass and techno. In fact, his love of the phatt and heavy has led him to the thing he comes back to at night, yes, he builds his very own subwoofers. So come meet the guy with the specs - you'll catch him on the weekends, ready to serve you!
Cameron is our most recent addition to the esteemed ranks of the Glasgow shop. Cammy heralds from a land far, far away, somewhere between Narnia and Middle Earth. Much Like Forrest Gump, Cammy likes to run with no particular idea of where he will end up. Legend has it he sprinted off one day only to return 2 years later looking like Gandalf the Grey and with no idea of where he'd been, although it could have been France! Come speak to this man about hi-fi.
Lock, stock and two smoking marrows! This chirpy chappy was born and bred in our Richer Sounds stockroom. He can tell you exactly what we've got and what we've not (but are about to on the next delivery). A welcome addition to the team, this wiley coyote has endless enthusiasm for all things bagged, boxed and correctly labelled, including electronic AV equipment. His beard is an outward reflection of his deep-thinking attitude and confirms to us all that he is a force for good, much like Obi Wan Kenobi. Martin has a thirst for knowledge and can sometimes be seen meditating out in the desert with only a What Hi-Fi? magazine to keep him company and shield him from the elements.
Marketing genius, graphic design superstar and AV enthusiast, Robb loves separating the wheat from the chaff before baking the best loaf of AV information available to mankind, with (fact!) more flavours than curry! With a Doctorate in Plasmology, he can give you all the inside tips on the discombobulating world of AV technology. He's turned his living room into a cinema and is about to do the same to his attic. Robb loves his projector and has replaced his 28 inch CRT with an 8-feet wide cinema screen so he can be engaged, engulfed, and fully immersed whilst watching The Gadget Show.
Colin has recently migrated back to the motherland of Glasgow after a long spell on the East Coast. Now he joins the West-Side Massive where he can live the dream once more. Colin's a veteran of Richer Sounds and remembers the days when you had to pay a fortune for a basic DVD player. Gone are those halcyon days. Not short of a few inches, Colin towers over the grass and the flowers and can regularly be seen at just below chest height. If you ask him nicely, he'll let you rest your cup of tea on his head whilst you gaze at our vast array of plasma and LCDs. Colin has a dog and likes watching the footy. He also has a part-time vocation making furniture and is currently designing a chair small enough for him to sit on.
We have a true legend working with us here in Glasgow. Freddy walked in off the street and demanded that we give him a job. Who were we to argue? This boy is the youngest European Weightlifting Champion of all time and you can find him in The Guinness Book of Records for his achievement. It's kinda cool that we've got this teen prodigy working here at Richer Sounds, which also has a place in The Guinness Book of Records - for selling more per square foot than any other business in the World. He studied Sound Engineering, which means that he knows a thing or two about audio stuff. Watch in awe as he lifts your 50 inch Plasma out to your van.
Stephen's been with us a good wee while now. He started as a runner and has finally taken the plunge and started to help you with your hi-fi and TV purchases. He's a cheeky chappie and likes the banter, especially with the little old ladies (watch out Gran!). An indie rock 'n' roller through and through, Stephen would chop off his right hand to spend the night with Oasis so he could talk about the good old days when they made great records. Some day Stephen hopes to get back on the decks and set fire to the wheels of steel. Anything you wanna know about record players you can ask this man as he used to be a great DJ at kids' parties and was well-known by a few people.
Our other Scott is our resident runner. If you need a hand out to your car with anything then he's the man to ask.
